Ross Turner

MHS Class of 1979

Ross graduated from Western State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1984.  He married his college sweetheart Mary and returned to Montrose that year.  He started working in the family’s Chevrolet and Toyota dealership as a Fleet Manager.

Ross attended the National Automobile Dealers Association Dealer Candidate Academy in 1986 and was named a Dealer Principal in 2001, making him the fourth generation of his family to be a General Motors dealer.

Ross and Mary have three children:  Emily, who is 23 and a 2007 MHS grad, David, who is 21 and a 2009 MHS grad, and Laura, 18, who is a junior at MHS.  When talking about his wife and children, Ross always has a smile, and you can tell how much he cares about them.

With a 28 year career in the retail car business, Ross is dedicated to service.  Some of his many contributions to the Montrose community include:  being President of the local Boy Scout district; working with the Redcoats and as a member of the Montrose Chamber of Commerce board of directors; as a member of the Montrose Rotary club since 1976 and as President in 1993-1994; serving on the Cooperative Solutions Fundraising Committee and on the Vestry Board of St Stephen’s Church; and packing the food backpacks for Northside Elementary School.

Ross said his favorite community service is the Rotary Club’s annual Winter Carnival at Cerro Summit.  “It’s great fun to watch the faces and hear the screams of joy and terror as the sleds and innertubes race down the hill.”
